Developed a ‘file-export’ component of the GDMO modelling tool, my
first commercial hands-on C++ experience. The first fully functional version of this product was
delivered to HP within 5 months of the company opening.

Assigned the role of lead developer in the investigation project
into the C++ application framework. Subsequently anointed Technical
Director for Opal that effectively meant a role encompassing project
management, quality management design and implementation tasks.

Liaised extensively with NetManSys and HP’s Telecom Management
Division in Colorado through weekly teleconferences, reports and visits.

The C++ Managed Object Toolkit framework project was a
challenging project both in terms of the complexity of the domain, the
lack of clear requirements and limits of the C++ technology of the
time. However these problems
were all overcome and we delivered into the HP manufacturing release process
the 1.0 GA release at the end of 1995.

Established sophisticated
multi-site configuration management using ClearCase that enabled
effective collaboration between Opal in Melbourne, NetManSys in Grenoble
and the sponsoring HP division in Colorado.

Established sophisticated multi-site defect tracking
using a Distributed Defect Tracking System from Rationale.
